# Points

Perpetual venues run points programs that reward trading activity. Points earned by the vaults' trading are distributed to depositors.

## How points are distributed

#### The vault earns points

Venue points programs credit points to the vault's accounts on each venue for its trading activity.

#### Atoma records each period

For every venue and distribution period, Atoma records the number of points the vault received.

#### Points are allocated

20% go to Atoma as the performance fee. The other 80% are split between depositors by time-weighted share balance: the number of shares held, multiplied by how long they were held during the period. Shares count from the deposit until the withdrawal request.

#### Points appear in the app

Each depositor's points per venue, and the history of every distribution, are shown in the app for the connected wallet.

## Example

Over one week the vault earns 10,000 points on a venue, and there are two depositors.

* Atoma receives 2,000 points as the performance fee. 8,000 points go to depositors.
* Depositor A holds 1,000 shares for the whole week: a time-weighted balance of 1,000.
* Depositor B holds 3,000 shares for the first half of the week, then requests a withdrawal: a time-weighted balance of 1,500.
* The total is 2,500. A receives 8,000 × 1,000 / 2,500 = 3,200 points. B receives 8,000 × 1,500 / 2,500 = 4,800 points.
